PSL 401 – Patient Safety and Quality Care Improvement

Credits: 4 graduate semester credit hours

Tuition/Fees: Extramural online students will be assessed the campus e-Tuition rate. The current graduate e-Tuition rate is $793 per credit hour. There is an additional library and IT assessment of $20 per credit hour.

Description: Introduces students to relevant theory, content, tools and methods in the field of patient safety. Focuses on the historical concepts, demographic trends, and current issues of patient safety and quality care. Faculty will engage students through selected readings, presentations, interactive exercises and discussions. Students will explore techniques and best practice in improvement science, define quality and select/develop meaningful metrics to reflect organizational quality. Students will be introduced to the magnitude of the patient safety problem through facilitated discussions and demonstration of learning assignments and begin their exploration into the patient safety and quality care arena.

Prerequisites: Course offered to Graduate ONLY.
