James Hogg

James has over twenty years of experience in the Insurance and Financial Services industry. He has broad-based technology, process, and operational experience as a CIO for a top 100 multi-line insurance company and extensive management consulting experience in strategy, technology, and operations. He has successfully managed and delivered multiple projects and has directed staff and line organizations of up to 250 people. James has successfully managed projects with several of the largest multi-line companies for personal property/casualty and life insurance. These projects have been in claims processing, customer relationship management, and policy administration systems. He was part of the due diligence team that defined and planned a large application development program. He then directed a sub-program that established a partnership with the client's IT organization to co-develop business applications for the agency channel. The application development effort centered on web-based agent connectivity to legacy systems and CRM databases. Working with a major Commercial Insurance and Claims Services company, James directed the implementation of several new production and data base systems. This included a comprehensive billing, commission, and disbursement system that automated a complex manual billing process and reduced processing time from over 4 hours per billing to less than 45 minutes.

In an engagement with a large Life Insurance company, James directed a project that successfully developed a web-based business strategy and then assisted in the definition and implementation of the projects required to execute the strategy. The project centered on leveraging the Internet investments the company had made in the direct .com and multiple financial channels. James managed a client team for a large insurance company and developed a business strategy and operating plan for converting the corporate staff model of the internal Information Technology (IT) area into a business operating model. The new IT organization sells a choice of services and products priced competitive to the market to the internal Business Units and is accountable for an ROI result.

James has a JD from the University of Baltimore, an MBA from the University of Delaware, and a BA from Washington College. He is active in the Chicago Archdiocese Big Shoulders program and is a mentor for nine high-school students. He holds several awards from his consulting experience and has been a speaker at many industry conferences.
